First Time

Every weekend, I decide to go back home to San Antonio because I want to spend time with my family and friends. In addition, it is also a short trip to get back home. I often heard from others that TLU can be very boring on the weekends and many of the students go back home. However, I changed my routine and decided to stay the last weekend of the year. Since it was my first weekend staying, I was curious to see what the campus was like on the weekend. I spent my Friday afternoon at the TLU swimming pool for the first time of the year. I also tried playing racquetball for the first time as well. In addition to the leisure time, I also had time to focus on studying for finals. When I usually return home, the house can be loud and make studying difficult. However, this last weekend of the year has given me the opportunity to study on a quiet campus. My view of TLU has changed this last weekend. Perhaps I will decide to stay more often next year.

Finals

It's that time again. With finals coming up soon, my mood and daily habits have drastically changed. I find myself becoming excited because the end of the year is near but also stressed because of finals. My close friends have also seen a difference in my behavior due to the mixed feelings. If I have approached anyone as rude or cranky, I apologize for that now. Although I am exempt from some of my finals, I feel like that has done little to ease my stress. I find that talking to friends and families for motivation is a good way to relieve some of the stress. Another option is spending some time alone studying a few days in advance. Although this time of the year can be very stressful, I try and stay positive with the thought that this feeling will soon be over in a week. I also try and motivate myself to finish strong by thinking of the time I will get to relax during the summer. However, I must stay focused and finish strong.

End of The Season

The end of intramural softball has officially ended this week. My co-ed team ended the season with a loss in the first game of the playoffs. Although the team didn't win the championship, I feel that we had a great season. Thanks to intramural softball, I was given the opportunity to meet two students from TLU that I have class with but never actually talked to. If I wouldn't have played intramural softball, I may not have ever talked and eventually become friends with them.
The end of the men's season has officially ended as well. Like the co-ed team, I also was given the opportunity to make new friends. My team finished the season by losing 17-16 in the championship game. The outcome of the game was disappointing, but I stayed with a positive attitude. After the game, we celebrated the end of a great season by having a team dinner at Hein. Overall, deciding to play intramural sports was a great decision.

Intramurals

The end of intramural sports has arrived. There were times of laughter and fun, but there were also times of seriousness and competition. This year, I found myself playing on two teams. One team for the co-ed softball and an all men's team. I really enjoyed this year. I was able to stay active and in shape by playing on the teams. In addition, I was also able to meet numerous new people. Throughout the season, I became close friends with my team mates. Since there was a faculty team in the league, I not only met students from TLU, but i also met faculty members too. I am excited because both teams that I play for have made it to the playoffs. With playoffs starting soon, I have the feeling that teams will become more competitive. Even if my team doesn't win, I still feel that playing intramural sports was a great decision.

A Surprising Weekend

I have a routine of going back to my hometown like many other TLU students. After our Composition class on Friday, I returned back to my room so that i could start packing my belongings to take home. I usually take my school work and my dirty clothes for laundry. I arrived back home in San Antonio on Friday night. The weekend was just like any other regular weekend. On Saturday afternoon, I received a phone call from a number that i was not familiar with. The area code was 830, and at that moment i remembered that it was someone from the Seguin area. So thinking that i must have been in trouble for something at school, I nervously answered the phone. The man explained that he was from TLU, and that the hall of my dorm had been flooded. He also mentioned that some of the things in my room were damaged by water. After ending the conversation, I was upset and couldn't wait to get back to my room. When i returned to my room, I was relieved to see that none of my personal belongings were seriously damaged. I later found out that the cause of the flood was that my neighbor had a clothes hanger hanging from the sprinkler in the room and accidentaly pulled the hanger.
